Introduction
People in Need (PIN) is a non-governmental, non-profit, international organization founded in the Czech 1992. PIN arrived in Nepal as part of a humanitarian response to the April 25, 2015 earthquake. Since its inception in Nepal, PIN has had a strong role in designing and facilitating systemic solutions advocating for and addressing the needs of vulnerable populations affected by disasters including person categories who live in geographically remote areas of the country, historically marginalized ethnic groups, and those marginalized because of their age and/or gender identity. Currently, PIN Nepal is implementing programmes under three strategic pillars 1) Emergency response and recovery, 2) Climate resilience, and 3) Civil society and inclusive governance. PIN Nepal team works in and promotes strong partnerships with civil society, Government of Nepal, academia, private sector and other key stakeholders in Nepal. Together with them, PIN Nepal has become one of the pioneer organizations advancing programmes such as landslide disaster preparedness and anticipatory action, climate and flood resilient housing, durable local solutions, climate change modelling for more inclusive and efficient local decision-making, girls and inclusive education, waste management and circular economy approaches. The position of Civil Society Officer offers an exciting opportunity to drive capacity strengthening aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of civil society organizations (CSOs) and local partners. In collaboration with the Partnership and CSO Capacity Strengthening team, the Civil Society will play a key role in delivering training programs, workshops, and mentoring sessions that empower partners, PIN’s Civil Society Now (CSN) members, and sub-grantees to better monitor and evaluate government policies and actions. This role will require a proactive approach to support CSOs in achieving compliance with donor requirements, compiling accurate records, preparing reports, and strengthening advocacy initiatives across all PIN Nepal’s strategic pillar programmes. The Civil Society Officer will also coordinate with local stakeholders, ensuring that technical assistance and capacity-building activities are effectively executed and documented.
The Civil Society Officer will work alongside the CSN and Partnership Coordinator to strengthen relationships with local CSOs, government bodies, and development partners, facilitating networking events and consultations. Regular reporting, data collection, and documentation will be critical in this role, ensuring that the CSO platform remains accessible, organized, and aligned with both CSN’s goals and broader development objectives. This dynamic position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to fostering collaboration, strengthening local CSOs, and contributing to the sustainable development of the sector.
Key Summary of Functions
1. Capacity Strengthening Support
- Support with onboarding of CSO members in PIN Nepal’s CSN platform.
- Collaborate with the partnership and CSO capacity strengthening team to enhance the skills and capabilities of partners, CSN members, sub-grantees, and project participants.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of training programs, workshops, and mentoring sessions for CSOs, partners, and stakeholders.
- Support CSOs in strengthening their capacity to monitor and evaluate government policies and actions.
- Participate in capacity-strengthening meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and contribute to planning discussions.
- Collect, compile, and maintain comprehensive records of program activities.
- Prepare and submit periodic capacity-strengthening reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) in compliance with donor and organizational guidelines.
- Contribute to the documentation of case studies, success stories, and best practices from CSN members, sub-grantees, partners, and project participants.
- Maintain and regularly update program databases on Confluence and CSN platforms.
- Coordinate with partner organizations, CSN members, and sub-grantees to ensure smooth implementation of capacity-building initiatives.
- Provide technical and administrative assistance to partners in executing capacity-strengthening activities.
- Facilitate coordination with local sub grantees and stakeholders for technical support, data collection, and reporting.
- Assist in advocacy initiatives focused on GBV prevention, response, and inclusive education.
- Develop and implement a structured capacity-strengthening work plan based on Partnership Assessment Template (PAT) and Due Diligence (DD) findings jointly with partnership team.
- Monitor and evaluate capacity-strengthening efforts, ensuring continuous improvement and impact measurement.
2. Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work alongside the CSN and Partnership Coordinator to strengthen relationships with local CSOs, government bodies, and development partners under the CSN initiative.
- Support the organization of consultation workshops, networking events, and training sessions for CSOs.
- Assist the Partnership team in engaging with the PIN Nepal’s strategic partners like NGO Federation of Nepal (NFN) and other relevant stakeholders.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for roundtable dialogues, field visits, and CSN-related activities.
3. Reporting and Documentation
- Ensure high-quality documentation of project activities, meetings, and lessons learned.
- Assist in drafting project reports, internal reports, donor reports, and case studies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of CSN platforms by compiling feedback, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Maintain a well-organized database of partnership-related documents on ELO and SharePoint, ensuring accessibility and security.
4. Partnership Assessment Template (PAT) Implementation
- Assist the Partnership team in conducting and analyzing partnership assessments using the PAT framework.
- Support CSO partners in implementing PAT recommendations, ensuring alignment with CSN goals and objectives.
- Jointly with LM, collaborate with PIN Nepal’s legal and compliance teams to address regulatory and policy-related concerns in partnership engagements.
5. Other Responsibilities
- Assist in branding and visibility initiatives for CSN/partnership and CSO unit, ensuring alignment with PIN’s communication and advocacy strategies.
- Work closely with PIN’s Communication & Advocacy Manager to enhance outreach and awareness of the CSN platform among local CSOs.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and localization of CSN content to make it relevant for Nepali CSOs.
- Perform additional tasks as required to support the successful execution of CSN and CSO initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in social science, rural development, political science or a related field with at least 2 years of experience
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in CSO engagement, sub-grant management, project coordination, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of Nepali CSO dynamics, localization, and compliance requirements.
- Experience in partnership management, and capacity strengthening of local organizations.
- Familiarity with reporting, documentation, and stakeholder coordination in development projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in both English and Nepali. Fluency in other local languages is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to field locations as required.
- Excellent oral and written English and Nepali including documentation skills

- Salaries are according to People in Need Salary Scale. Candidates will be informed about the salaries in the beginning of the recruitment process
